It’s a buoyant, entrepreneurial £6.9 billion-a-year industry that provides exciting, fashion-focused career opportunities for thousands of young people every year – and national hairdressing awards The It List shines a spotlight on the brightest, most ambitious and creative new British and Irish talents aged 30 and under. Lauren Bell of Haringtons in London’s Soho, has proved she has a brilliant future in hair, having earned a place on the 2019 shortlist.

Now in its tenth year, The It List – presented by leading industry publication Creative HEAD and exclusively sponsored by ghd – is the most exciting and rewarding competition for young British hairdressers, leading to career-defining recognition and opportunities.  This year’s entries were judged by an exceptional panel of hair, fashion and business experts, including names like fashion and beauty journalists Alice Hart-Davis, Jessica Bumpus and Cassie Steer; talent agent Candice O’Brien; fashion designer Louise Gray; session stylists Louis Byrne and Anna Cofone; industry influencers Aaron Carlo, Adam Reed and Sophia Hilton; and innovative, pioneering salon owners like Luke Hersheson, Christel Lundqvist, Andrew Cannon and Matt Robinson.

Lauren is one of five finalists in THE FASHIONISTA category, and will be joining a star-studded, 700-strong guest list at The It List Grand Final on Monday 2 September to discover if they will take home the title. Taking place at London’s Printworks – the atmospheric space that once delivered the Metro and Evening Standard newspapers to London –  and hosted by actor and comedian Aisling Bea, the It List Grand Final is considered the coolest event in the hairdressing calendar.

The winners – The Rising Star, The Fashionista, The Entrepreneur, The Visionary, The It Guy and The It Girl – each receive a prestigious It List trophy, an exclusive ghd workshop experience and 12 months of profile-projecting coverage in Creative HEAD in print and online.

And the career-boosting benefits are far-reaching. Past winners have gone on to shoot with high-profile magazines, become ambassadors for global brands, launch successful salon businesses, lead hair teams at London Fashion Week and get signed by top talent agencies. They’ve also presented at exclusive Creative HEAD events up and down the country. Quite simply, doors open for those who get on It!

“There’s quite literally nothing else like The It List to shine a spotlight on tomorrow’s talent, young names recognised and respected by a truly A list calibre of judges. Get on The It list, and your career will transform beyond recognition.”   – Creative HEAD editor, Amanda Nottage
